Somali Marine Trade (SMT)

Quality

Quality you can inspect, not just claim

SMT is built so that quality-relevant information travels with a product and a supplier through the trade. Rather than making blanket quality guarantees, the platform records verifiable details buyers can review before they commit.

Handling from landing

Products are described by how they are caught, handled, and prepared — whole, gutted, filleted, or processed — so buyers know exactly what they are ordering.

Cold-chain discipline

Shipments record cold-chain and handling information through the logistics workflow, supporting quality expectations from origin to destination.

Supplier certifications

Suppliers can hold and display certifications on their business profile; certifications are shown where they have actually been recorded — never assumed.

Per-category verification

Verification is done per category (business, documents, facility, product, certification, traceability). One verified item does not verify an entire business.

A note on claims. Verification on SMT confirms that a specific item was reviewed — it does not by itself guarantee product quality, regulatory compliance, or the outcome of any individual transaction. Buyers are encouraged to complete their own due diligence for their market.
